Guide to Canine Parasites and Diseases by Niall Kennedy

Even if you give your pet the good things he needs such as a good amount of physical activity and good foods for him, you need to realize that your pet can still become sick. The best way to help you pet is to make sure that as soon as you notice something wrong that you take care of it. For example, the symptoms that you may feel yourself when feeling sick, such as diarrhea, lack of appetite or a look of being out of it can be a sign that he has a bug. But, on the other hand, if the symptoms last more than a few days, it's time to call your vet. They may have something more serious such as parasites or an infection.

One of your first concerns should be when you pet has diarrhea. This is very important to notice especially in puppies. Again, it may seem like he just has a bug, but it can also signal that there is something more wrong such as a virus, parasite or bacterial infection. While a change in the type of food the dog eats or just the stress he is under can cause it, it's important to take steps to protect your animal when he has diarrhea. You need to insure your pet, especially your puppy, does not dehydrate. If the condition lasts for more than a day or so, you should call your vet. You may need to collect a sample for the vet so that he or she can figure out what the problem is and how to treat it.

My Dog is Lost! What should I Do Now... by Moses Chia

Your dog is lost. You are worried and clueless on how to get started to bring your lost dog home. Follow these tips here and I'm sure it will increase your chances of finding your lost dog.

1. Make sure that your dog is actually lost - Search your house and back yard completely first. Your dog might just be too distracted by his new found toy in the yard.

2. Search around your neighborhood. Most dogs don't usually wander off far from their house.

3. Use your voice - Call out his name when finding your lost dog. It is a more useful searching tool than your eyes. Dogs can hear a lot better than we do and the distance from which dogs can hear things is four times further than man.

4. Ask around during the search - Talk to people especially people walking their dog, because they are the group to be most concern and take notice with a wandering dog.

If you are like most working Americans you are low on time and high on tasks. You might put in long hours at the office. This shortens the amount of time you spend engaging in dog walking with your best canine friend every day. Different dog breeds have different daily exercise requirements, so your pooch might need extensive dog walking or run in the middle of the day.

How can you take your dog walking and be at work at the same time? You can hire a dog walker to be your dog walking replacement while you are at work. Often times a dog walker is more then just a necessity because many dogs that have limited dog walking time become irritable. Dogs need to have daily exercise and human connection through dog walking.

Your dog may even act out by chewing up your couch and favorite pair of heels when you are gone. In some instances, a dog in need of consistent dog walking will show aggression. This lack of exercise has let excess energy build up.

Dog walking during the day is also necessary for many dogs because they simply can't go a long duration without going the bathroom. You may be at work for 12 hours and this can be too long for dogs to go without relieving themselves and/or having a snack. Therefore, daily dog walking can be a great benefit to many dogs.

Keep Your Dogs Teeth Healthy

Dogs get plaque and tartar on their teeth just like humans do. Cleaning your dogs teeth between professional cleanings is very simple.

Keeping your dogs teeth and gums clean will eliminate "doggy breath" as well as keep your dog healthy.

Most veterinarians suggest twice a week brushings. When brushing teeth, use baking soda or a special toothpaste formulated for dogs, not toothpaste for humans. Pet toothpastes contain enzymes that help dissolve plaque and can be swallowed. They also taste good.

Use a toothbrush designed for pets or small children. Or just use gauze or a washcloth if the pet doesn't like the brush.

Tooth brushing is best but if the dog won't let you brush it's teeth then giving it something to chew that rubs on the sides of the teeth is useful.

Although dogs do not usually get cavities in their teeth, tooth problems result from soft foods that can leave debris in gum pockets at the base of the teeth, known as gingivitis. Infections form which soften and cause the gums to recede. Bad breath is a symptom.
